LAUNCH OF WEBSITE
The Coláiste Chraobh Abhann website is available for viewing on the web from Monday 2nd October. The website provides all the information expected about the school along with a comprehensive photographic record of activities and events in the last few years. We hope it proves to be a valuable resource for parents, students, staff and anyone interested in finding out further information about Coláiste Chraobh Abhann.
UNDER-14 WICKLOW/WEXFORD LEAGUE MATCH
Coláiste Chraobh Abhann met Arklow Community College in Arklow last Friday 29th September in an Under-14 Wicklow/Wexford League Match. Coláiste Chraobh Abhann won by 7 goals to 5. Goal scorers were Ciarán Byrne (4), Gary Elliot (1), Shane Magee (1) and Shane Doyle (1). Man of the Match was Gary Elliot. Congratulations to everyone involved.
EUROPEAN LANGUAGES DAY
Coláiste Chraobh Abhann celebrated European Languages Day on Tuesday 26th September last. A full range of activities to celebrate this day was held by students and staff at the school. There were poster, poetry and short story competitions held in the different languages in preparation for the day. Many thanks to Ms Kennedy for coordinating the event.
VISITS TO PRIMARY SCHOOLS
The Deputy Principal, Ms Buckley and the Principal, Mr Eivers are presently visiting the primary schools within the catchment area. Students in 6th class are being given a letter and an information leaflet about the school. Parents wishing to enrol their children in the school for September 2007 are reminded that the deadline for receipt of applications is January 15th 2007.
STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS
The election of representatives onto the Student Council for 2006/2007 will be held next Monday October 9th. There will be a meeting of the existing Council this week in preparation for the introduction of the new Council. Many thanks to Ms Smith and Ms Tarrant who have been coordinating the election process and to 3rd year students who have been assisting them as part of the CSPE Action Project.
ADULT EDUCATION
The Adult and Community Education Programme is in full swing at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann. Classes started last Monday, September 25th. There are 24 courses in total and if anyone is interested in a late place on any of the courses they should contact Ms Ruth O’Callaghan, Adult Education Director.
