LAUNCH OF WEBSITE

The Coláiste Chraobh Abhann website is now available for all to view.  The website provides all the information expected about the school along with a comprehensive photographic record of activities and events in the last few years.  The website address is www.colaisteca.ie.  We hope it proves to be a valuable resource for parents, students, staff and anyone interested in finding out further information about Coláiste Chraobh Abhann.

 

UNDER-14 WICKLOW/WEXFORD LEAGUE MATCHES

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann met Arklow Community College in Arklow on Friday 29th September.  Coláiste Chraobh Abhann won by 7 goals to 5.  Goal scorers were Ciarán Byrne (4), Gary Elliot (1), Shane Magee (1) and Shane Doyle (1).  Man of the Match was Gary Elliot.  Congratulations to everyone involved.  On Friday last Coláiste Chraobh Abhann beat East Glendalough 8-1.  Well done to all especially Ciarán Byrne to set a new school record of 7 goals in one game.  Matthew Mannix scored the other goal.

 

EUROPEAN LANGUAGES DAY

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann celebrated European Languages Day on Tuesday 26th September last.  A full range of activities to celebrate this day was held by students and staff at the school.  There were poster, poetry and short story competitions held in the different languages in preparation for the day.  Many thanks to Ms Kennedy for coordinating the event.

 

VISITS TO PRIMARY SCHOOLS

The Deputy Principal, Ms Buckley and the Principal, Mr Eivers are presently visiting the primary schools within the catchment area.  Students in 6th class are being given a letter and an information leaflet about the school.  Parents wishing to enrol their children in the school for September 2007 are reminded that the deadline for receipt of applications is January 15th 2007.  The school’s Open Night is scheduled for Wednesday 6th December.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS

The election of representatives to the Student Council for 2006/2007 was held on Monday October 9th.  There will be a meeting of the new Council this week.  Many thanks to Ms Smith and Ms Tarrant who coordinated the election process and to 3rd year students who assisted them as part of the CSPE Action Project. 

 

ADULT EDUCATION

The Adult and Community Education Programme is in full swing at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann.  Classes started last Monday, September 25th.  There are 24 courses in total and if anyone is interested in a late place on any of the courses they should contact Ms Ruth O’Callaghan, Adult Education Director.  

 

PARENTS’ COUNCIL MEETING             

The first meeting of the new Parents’ Council took place on Monday 9th October.  The members of this years Council are Ms Claire Diviney       Ms Liz Burke, Ms Laura O’Neill, Ms Susan Archer, Ms Valerie McGlynn, Ms Noreen de Hora, Mr Peter Williams, Ms Berni Kelly, Mr Koenraad Verbruggen, Ms Gemma Kinsella, Ms Eugene Condon, Ms Lydia Brien.
