YOUNG SCIENTIST EXHIBITION

Well done to Conor Spencer, one of our second year students, who took part in the BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS.  Conor’s project was entitled “The Shoe that Recharges Batteries”.  Conor got on very well at the exhibition, with many people expressing a good interest in his work.  Well done Conor!

 

WELL DONE

Congratulations to Stephen McCormack of 1st year who raised €100 over the Christmas holidays for the Parents’ Association funds by organising a raffle in his local area.  Well done Stephen!

 

ADULT & COMMUNITY EDUCATION

The Spring term of our Adult and Community Education programme is resuming the week beginning Monday January 29th.  A wide range of classes are on offer, including Yoga, Pilates, Computers, Spanish, Golf, Fashion & Styling, Kickboxing.  Enrolments may be made by visiting the school in person, or by phone or post. TRANSITION YEAR

On Friday January 12th, our Transition Year students went on a day trip to Dublin.  During the day, they visited Trinity College and also did a walking tour of the city, as part of the Geography and Heritage Studies module of their course.  

A group of Transition Year students then went on to the RDS to the Young Scientist Exhibition.  The day finished up with ice-skating and a visit to Funderland.  An enjoyable day was had by all.

 

U13 BOYS GAELIC FOOTBALL

Good luck goes to our U13 boys Gaelic football team who are playing in the Semi-final of the South Leinster competition on Wednesday January 17th.  The boys will be playing against Hacketstown in Carlow.  Best of luck lads!

 

U14 BOYS SOCCER

Our U14 boys soccer team had a great win over St. Declan’s of Cabra on Wednesday January 10th, despite the windy weather conditions.  The final score was 4-2, with the goal scorers being Shane Doyle (2), Ciarán Byrne and Gary Elliott.  Man of the Match on the day was Stephen Nolan.  Well done!

 

PARENT TEACHER MEETING

A reminder to all Transition Year and Leaving Cert Applied students and parents that the Parent Teacher meeting for these class groups will take place on Monday January 22nd from 4.15pm to 6.45pm.  All parents and guardians are encouraged to come along and discuss their children’s progress in each programme.

 

ITALY TRIP

Preparations are again in full swing for the second year school trip to Italy at Easter.  Students are reminded to bring in their passport, as well as their European Health Insurance card by the end of January.
