JUNIOR GIRLS GAELIC FOOTBALL

The Junior Girls Gaelic football team played Baltinglass in the Wicklow B Semi-Final on Thursday November 22.  The final score was Baltinglass 6 – 6 : Kilcoole 6 – 3.  The girls played a great match, they played against the wind in the first half and fell behind by 12 points early on.  However, a brilliant comeback after half-time resulted in Colaiste Chraobh Abhann reducing the deficit to just 3 points.  Unfortunately time was against the girls, who were well on top approaching the final whistle but unfortunately could not find that equalising score.  The game was played in atrocious conditions, described by the girls themselves as being a mud-bath.  This did not deter them however as each of them gave their best effort.  Best on the day for C.C.A. were Jessica Morrissey, Emma Peppard, Niamh Donnelly, Kim Elliott and Player of the Match Amy Elliott who scored an amazing 5 goals and 2 points, all from play!  Well done girls and better luck next year!

FIRST YEAR GAELIC FOOTBALL

After a recent narrow defeat by St. Kevin’s of Dunlavin, our first year gaelic boys picked themselves up to comprehensively beat St. Killian’s of Bray by 6-14 to 0-0.  Man of the match Gary Elliott was instrumental in the win with honourable mentions going to Kevin Carthy, Matthew Mannix and Sean Heffernan.  We now play Colaiste Bride Carnew in the “B” Semi-Final.  Best wishes go to Karl Carthy and Daniel Kavanaghon a speedy recovery with their recent injuries.

BASKETBALL

Our U19 Girls Basketball team met St. David’s of Greystones on Wednesday November 22.  The girls played well but lost 22-26 in a very close game.  The team was: Una Britton, Laura Greene, Jessica Golden, Leigh O Neill, Elizabeth Daly, Lynne Keenan, Lisa Coffey, Rosie Murray, Niamh Donnelly and Ciara Corcoran.

PRIMARY SCHOOL TRANSFER PROGRAMME

Thursday morning last, November 23, saw the arrival of sixth class pupils from 4 of our feeder primary schools.  They spent the morning sampling some of the subjects that the school has on offer.  They visited the Home Economics room, where they had the opportunity to make fruit smoothies.  They also visited the Woodwork room and the PE hall, where they experienced some of the sports available in the school.  The pupils called to our Multimedia Language Laboratory, and were treated to an entertainment session, where some of our own students put their talents into action, amongst which were a First Year rock band and a quartet of Irish dancers.
