PRIVATE MEMBERS DRAW
A reminder to parents that tickets for the Private Members Draw are still on sale priced at €20 each. Forms for purchasing tickets are available at the school reception or may be printed from the school website – Parents Section – Fund Raising at www.colaisteca.ie.
PARENT/TEACHER MEETING
The 3rd Year Parent-Teacher meeting is scheduled for Thursday 26th October from 4.15pm to 6.45pm. A list of each student’s teachers will be available at reception on the night. Parents are requested to attend no earlier than 4.05pm to allow staff time to prepare for the meeting. Please be advised that supervised study is cancelled on this evening.
1ST YEAR OUTING TO GLENDALOUGH
Last Thursday the 100 1st year students enjoyed a wonderful day out at Glendalough. A big thank you to all the teachers who organised the day and in particular Ms Smith, the Year Head and Class Tutors Ms Tarrant, Ms Driver, Mr Evoy and Ms Cowap. Especially designed certificate will be given to all participants on the walk.
STUDENT COUNCIL
The student council members for this year are: Conor Black, Alice Grey, Shane Magee, Shauna Doyle, David Galvin, Kevin Hayden, Ronan Harding Downes and Nicole O’Brien. Mr Eivers and Ms Buckley look forward to working with the Student Council members during the course of the year.
UNDER 14 SOCCER MATCH
Coláiste Chraobh Abhann lost to Del la Salle Wicklow last week in an Under 14 Soccer match. However, there was a great effort by the team especially Gary Elliott who was man of the match. The team is in the Quarter Finals after mid-term. Well done to everyone involved.
FISHING TRIP
The Fishing Club had its 1st Interschools Competition against Presentation College Bray last Wednesday. A great day was had by both teams in a close fought competition. Coláiste Chraobh Abhann turned out eventual winners. Key fishermen of the day were Warren McGuinness and Kevin Chapman. The Fishing Club’s season is well underway in the school with numerous outings taken so far. The next outing will be after the mid-term and will encompass a variety of locations and types of fishing.
THE FIRST TEE
The first group of participants on the 1st Tee Programme will complete their Par Course before Christmas. These students will then progress to the next level which is the Birdie Course. A new group of 15 students have been selected by the coordinator of the programme Mr Healy and will commence their programme on Wednesday 25th October. All of the 1st Year group will have an opportunity for a once off one hour session with the Head Professional from the Druids Glen Golf Resort at a later stage during the year.
