ANTI-BULLYING WEEK

This week has been designated Anti-Bullying Week at Coláiste Chraobh Abhann.  The week which has been an annual event on the school calendar has been very successful in raising awareness and consciousness around the issue of bullying in schools.  A range of activities across the year groups and involving teachers in all subject areas has ensured the success of the programme.  Students will, among many other things, participate in a poetry and short story competition as well as a poster competition in Art.  The winning entries in both these competitions will be published in the student journal for the following academic year.  Many thanks to all involved and in particular Ms Tarrant, Art Teacher and SPHE Coordinator, Ms Madden.

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION

The AGM of the Parents’ Association was held last Thursday 21st September.  At this meeting a report was given to parents by the Secretary and Treasurer of the Parents’ Council.  The Chairperson, Mr Koen Verbruggen conducted the nomination process for election of parents to the Parents’ Council.  The members of the new Parents’ Council will be published next week.

HIGHER OPTIONS CONFERENCE 2006

On Friday 22nd September, nineteen Leaving Cert Applied students from Coláiste Chraobh Abhann attended the Higher Options conference held in the RDS, Ballsbridge. The conference allowed students to find out about further job and training opportunities that they may pursue when leaving school, by meeting and speaking with those who are personally involved in a particular career or course. Students and staff enjoyed what was an enjoyable and informative day.  Thanks to Ms Kennedy and Ms Raughter.
