ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME
The final adjudication of the Environs programme took place in the school last Tuesday May 1st. The students involved were interviewed about their projects, and there was a great display of work around the building. A total of 12 projects from our school have entered into the competition in each of the 4 categories – Natural, Cultural, Built and Social Environment. We wish the best of luck to each individual project as they await the results.
U13 BOYS SOCCER
Commiserations to our U13 Boys Soccer team who played in the final of the Wicklow/Wexford League last Wednesday May 2nd. The boys played a great game of soccer and deserved to win the match from the start. Unfortunately, a goal in the dying minutes of the game from the opposition put Coláiste Chraobh Abhann out of the running for this year, with a final score of 1-0. We have no doubt that the boys will be back in full form next year with the same enthusiasm to bring home the cup! Man of the match for CCA was Niall Crosbie, with noted performances also from Ciarán Byrne, Matthew Mannix, Gary Elliott and Steven Moran.
JUNIOR CERTIFICATE
Our third year students have been working hard in the last few weeks with their Science, Art and CSPE teachers. The deadlines for coursework in each of these subjects has now passed and we wish our students the best of luck.
ATHLETICS
On Wednesday last, May 2nd, a group of boys from the school took part in the Athletics competition in Ringsend. Congratulations to All-Ireland athlete Seán Ryder who came first in the Discus, and also to Patrick Costello, who came first in the Long Jump. The boys now go on to the Leinster finals. Best of luck lads!
SPORTS DAY
Our annual sports day takes place on Friday May 18th. This annual event is always an enjoyable day for all involved, with sports and activities to suit everybody.
HURLING BLITZ
Well done to all the boys who took part in the Hurling blitz in Éire Óg GAA club on Wednesday last. Unfortunately, the team lost both games, despite playing with great commitment and skill. Well done to Eoghan Kinsella who scored a fine point and also to Liam de Hora who scored the team’s only goal. Marty Byrne did an excellent job as coach.
