SENIOR GAELIC FOOTBALL

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann           1-13                                   St Brendan’s                    0-7

This was the quarter final of the championship and our team showed great commitment and skill throughout to overcome a good Bray side with some very strong footballers.  A strong crosswind made scoring difficult but CCA settled first and were 0-3 up, thanks to Christy Power and a free from Matthew Gilbert.  St. Brendan’s gradually came into the game and drew level but our lads again pulled away to lead at half-time by 0-7 to 0-3.

The vital score of the second half came after a great run by Christy Power and a shot rebounding off the upright to be finished in the net by the opportunistic Adam Coster.  Six more points were added to the tally to seal and impressive win for CCA.  This was a great team effort from the goalie to the subs brought in.  The team and scorers were: John McDaid, Shane Keogh, John Halpin, Matthew Mannix, Vincent Hunt, Stuart Power (0-1), Shane Mooney, Conor Byrne (0-1), Matthew Gilbert (0-5), Colin Odlum, Michael Hackett (0-1), Christy Power (0-4), Conor Eccleston, Patrick Costelle, Gary Elliott (0-1).  Subs were Billy Clarkson, Adam Coster (1-0), Shane Mulford, William Owens.
