Coláiste Chraobh Abhann  5-5   Scoil Chonglais Baltinglass  2-11

The County Wicklow Schools quarter final was a closely contested game, in which we were lucky that full forward Marty Byrne struck form hitting a hat-trick, and at the other end, Jamie Murray was unyielding in our goal while under intense pressure in the closing stages.  The team and scorers were: Jamie Murray, Matthew Mannix, John Halpin, Christy Power, Vinnie Hunt, Patrick Costello, Michael Heffernan, Conor Byrne (0-1), Matthew Gilbert (0-3), Dean Healy (2-1), Kurt Starke, Gary Elliott, Gerard Synnott, Marty Byrne (3-0) and Darren White.  Subs on the day were: Noel Power, Kevin Condon, Shane Heffernan, Daniel Kavanagh, Rory McNicholas, Shane Magee, Conor Earley.

TRANSITION YEAR

The Transition Year students recently held a fundraising event in aid of the upcoming school show, “Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat”.  They had a very original idea of putting a secret Valentine message inside a balloon and selling them to other students seeking romance on Valentine’s Day!

LEAVING CERTIFICATE APPLIED

The Leaving Certificate Applied students have recently attended a series of talks on various issues, including the Drugs Task Force and Narcotics Anonymous.  They found these talks very informative and gained some useful knowledge from them.

U13 BOYS GAELIC FOOTBALL

The U13 Boys’ Gaelic football played in the Leinster semi-final in UCD on Wednesday 13th February.  Their opponents were Scoil Chaitríona Glasnevin.  The boys put in a very spirited performance on the day and at half-time, the score was 1-3 to 1-2 in Coláiste Chraobh Abhann’s favour.  In the second half, however, Scoil Chaitríona fought back to win the game, finishing on a score line of 3-11 to 1-5.  Man of the match for Coláiste Chraobh Abhann was Philip O Connor.  Well done must go to the lads who have worked so hard and we look forward to even more success next year!
