MOCK EXAMS

Our third years are currently working hard for their Junior Cert Mock exams, which take place from Monday February 5 to Friday February 16.  We wish them all the best of luck.

 

U14 BOYS GAELIC FOOTBALL

Congratulations to our U14 Boys Gaelic football team who were victorious in the final of the South Leinster Competition against Bunclody on Friday last, January 26.  The boys put in a great performance all through the match.  The finishing score line says it all: Coláiste Chraobh Abhann 5-15 Bunclody 1-0.  Scorers on the day were: Matthew Mannix (2-3), Daniel Kavanagh (1-3), Conor McKenna (1-4), Shane Magee (0-2), Gary Elliott (1-3), Kurt Starke (0-1).  Man of the Match was Matthew Mannix.  It was with great pride that the boys returned to the school on Friday afternoon with the shield in hand.  Well done boys and we look forward to next year!

 

JUNIOR GAELIC FOOTBALL

Coláiste Chraobh Abhann 1-11              St.Brendans 3-5

The first round of this year’s Junior Championship ended in a stalemate in Bray on Tuesday last, January 23rd.  This was a closely contested match all through.  At half-time, Coláiste Chraobh Abhann were ahead by a single point, 1-7 to 2-3, with the goal coming from Ciarán Byrne.  In the second half, Coláiste Chraobh Abhann went four points clear but St.Brendan’s finished with a flourish, scoring 1-1 in the dying minutes to level the match.  The team and scorers were: Jamie Murray, Kevin Condon, John Halpin, Christopher Power, Vincent Hunt, Matthew Gilbert (0-4), Shane Heffernan, Conor Byrne (0-4), Patrick Costello, Dean Healy, Kurt Starke (0-3), Michael Heffernan, Ciarán Byrne(1-0), Seán Ryder and Gerard Synnott.  Subs on the day were: Tim Nairn, Matthew Mannix, Marty Byrne, Darren Bourke, Conor Earley, Daniel Kavanagh, Adam Dalby and Shane Magee.

 

U14 BOYS SOCCER

In an excellent quarter final against Salesians College Celbridge on Wednesday January 24, it was unfortunate that Coláiste Chraobh Abhann did not emerge as winners.  The boys played a great game of soccer, with the finishing scoreline of 3-1.  Congratulations to all who took part.  The goal scorer on the day was Ciarán Byrne, with Man of the Match going to Daire Killen.
