VISIT OF MINISTER FOR EDUCATION AND SCIENCE
Ms Mary Hanafin T.D., Minister for Education and Science, visited the school on Wednesday 25th April 2007. Students from Ms Tarrant's 2LOL CSPE class invited Ms Hanafin to a 'Question and Answer' session on 'The Seanad, Dáil Eireann and the life of an elected representative'. During the visit Ms Hanafin officially launched the school's website, visited some classes to see students at work and spoke at a student assembly. Before departing Ms Hanafin unveiled a plaque in honour of her visit and was then invited to a reception hosted by students and staff.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Students have been very busy in the school for the last few weeks, in preparation for the final adjudication of the Environs programme. Students from all year groups have been involved in these projects. A total of 12 projects from our school have entered into the competition in each of the 4 categories – Natural, Cultural, Built and Social Environment. The students involved have put in a massive amount of work and time, along with their teachers, and we wish the best of luck to each individual project.
U13 BOYS SOCCER
Our U13 Boys Soccer team are playing in the final of the Wicklow/Wexford League. By the time this article is printed, the game will have been played. We hope the result will be a victorious one for our students. Best of luck to all involved. Watch this space next week!
LEAVING CERTIFICATE APPLIED
Well done to our LCA class, who recently completed their Hotel, Catering and Tourism task. The students hosted a three course lunch for their teachers, and were very professional in their conduct. An enjoyable feast was had by all!
DENIM DAY
Many thanks to all students who took part in Denim Day last Friday. The school raised a huge amount of money, which will now be donated to disadvantaged children and to Special Olympics Ireland.
BANK HOLIDAY
A reminder to all that the school will be closed on Monday next, May 7th for the bank holiday.
