POLAND TRIP
Students from our fifth year History class recently organised a trip to Krakow in Poland. This trip was organised to give the students a better insight into the Nazi regime and World War II. During the visit, the students visited Wawel castle, one of the key historical places in Krakow. They enjoyed a folklore evening at a traditional Jewish restaurant and were taught some traditional Polish dancing. The students took part in a two-hour tour of Auschwitz Birkenau. The reality of seeing the camps was somewhat different from studying it in the class. They visited the memorial site which had plaques made out in 12 different languages for all the nationalities involved in the terrors of the camps.
