SENIOR GAELIC FOOTBALL
County Wicklow Schools – First Round
CCA 3-11 Coláiste Ráithín 0-7
This was a comprehensive victory in the end but the game was well contested throughout. Early on scores were exchanged but a fortuitous goal from Matthew Gilbert just before the break opened a 6 point lead for CCA. Further goals from Michael Hackett and Gary O Toole sealed the victory. Man of the match was Billy Clarkson.
County Wicklow Schools Quarter Final
CCA 0-9 Presentation College, Bray 4-3
The next round produced sterner opposition. Despite playing good football throughout the field, we found it very hard to score, credit to the Presentation defence. Half-time saw us trailing 0-2 to 2-2. In the second half we improved and closed the gap thanks mainly to the scoring exploits of Matthew Gilbert. However, conceding another 2 goals put the game beyond our reach. The team was: Luke Doyle, Vincent Hunt, Shane Mooney, Micheal Heffernan, Gary Elliott, John Halpin, Christy Power, Conor Byrne (0-1), Stuart Power (0-1), Austin Gaskin, Michael Hackett, Matthew Gilbert (0-6), Kurt Starke, Ronan Harding-Downes, Colin Odlum. Subs on the day were: Shane Magee (0-1), Adam Coster, Billy Clarkson. Man of the match was Gary Elliott.
U14 BOYS SOCCER
The lads had a great 6-1 win against St. Kilian’s of Bray last week. They are now in the semi-finals of the U14 Wicklow Wexford league. Special mention for David Crosbie, Ciarán Lawless, Shane Molloy, Aaron Byrne and Stuart Synnott. All players were fantastic on the day.
