EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The programme of extra-curricular activities is up and running in the school. All students are encouraged to get involved in at least one activity, either sporting or non-sporting. Activities include Camogie, Soccer, Gaelic football for boys and girls, Debating, Fishing and a whole lot more!!
VISITORS FROM SWEDEN
Coláiste Chraobh Abhann was delighted to welcome a group of Swedish visitors last Tuesday September 16th. The group were given presentations on various aspects of the school and were also brought on a tour of the school, stopping off at areas of interest to their visit and/or subject areas, including computers, woodwork, metalwork, art and home economics.
MUSIC OUTREACH PROGRAMME
The Music Outreach Programme started today, Wednesday September 24th in the school. Further enrolments can still be made. Contact Miss Mitchell for further details.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT
The Music Department had its first performance for this year last Tuesday, September 16th. The performance was for a Swedish delegation from the Education Department in the municipality of Helsinborg. The choir sang three pieces. There were solos from Liz Daly, Amy Meagher, Joe Bradley and Amy Diviney. The following dancers, Kerri Merriman, Clare O Toole, Kate Leone, Kyla Heffernan and Sorcha Garvey performed both hard and soft shoe dances and one of the school bands played ‘Sweet Home Alabama’. Credit to Joe Bradley, Liz Daly and Ben Kelly for their assistance during rehearsals.
THANK YOU
Many thanks and congratulations to all parents and students who were involved in our recent bag pack in Tesco, Greystones. A total of €3,700 was raised, which will be used for sports equipment.
HEAD BOY AND GIRL
Best wishes to our Head Boy and Girl, Andrew Meade and Laura Greene. We wish them well in their role for the year.
VISIT TO SCHOOL
Two representatives from the Wicklow Army Reserves came to the school on Monday September 22nd, to speak to fifth and sixth year students about joining the reserves and on careers in the Defence Forces.
