U14 GAELIC BOYS FOOTBALL
The u14 Gaelic Football Boys team faced a tough challenge against St Kevin's, Dunlavin last Friday and despite the best efforts of the Kilcoole side, Dunlavin came out on top. A strong wind propelled St Kevin's to a big lead at half time and it was always going to be an uphill struggle to overcome the deficit but thanks to good performances from Daniel Argiriu, Steven Kelly and Owen O'Brien, the Colaiste Chraobh Abhann side made Dunlavin work hard in the second half. St Kevin's did indeed emerge as the winning team but the boys of Coláiste Chraobh Abhann can be proud that they put in a decent performance against strong opponents. Man of the match - Jake Ryan of 1KRN.
COMENIUS PROGRAMME
Colaiste Chraobh Abhann was proud to host 16 students and 19 teachers from all over Europe as part of our ongoing Comenius school partnership. Teachers and students came from Estonia, Turkey, England, Spain and Germany for a four day visit which included project meetings, Irish dancing, cookery and trips to Glendalough and Powerscourt estate. We welcomed the visitors with a performance from some of our student musicians and dancers, and all attended a celebration dinner at the Martello restaurant in Bray on Friday night, where we were joined by members of our Board of Management and Parents Council. The students were hosted by Transition Year and 5th Year Colaiste Chraobh Abhann students, and had a wonderful time joining in in lots of different activities with their host families. Our students will travel to Spain in March and to Germany in May as part of the partnership. They will produce an eco-brochure promoting the Kilcoole and Wicklow area and present it in Germany to the other schools.
