PRIVATE MEMBERS DRAW
The Parent’s Council have organised the annual Private Members' Draw as a fundraiser with proceeds being used to improve staff and student services at the school. To date the money raised has been used to purchase a vast array of equipment and materials, as well as supporting the efforts of many staff in the area of extra-curricular activities. The first of ten draws takes place on Wednesday 18th November at 9.00am. Tickets are €20 and are available from the school. For more information, visit www.colaisteca.ie.
SCHOOL VISIT
The Lord Mayor of Wurzburg, Mr. George Rosenthal visited the school on Thursday November 5th as part of his visit to Co. Wicklow to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the twinning of Wurzburg with Bray Town Council and Wicklow County Council. CCA are involved in this partnership as a result of a very successful exchange that took place last year with Reimenschneider Gymnasium School in Wurzburg. It is hoped that another exchange will take place later this year.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT TEAM
Students have now been assigned to class groups as energy monitors. An energy consumption survey will take place over the next four weeks, seeking ways in which we can conserve our energy within the school.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Best wishes to our fifth year students who will be out on one weeks’ work experience from Monday 9th November to Friday 13th.
PRIMARY SCHOOL TRANSITION PROGRAMME
On Wednesday next, November 18th, 191 pupils and their teachers from our four ‘feeder’ primary schools – St. Anthony’s and St. Brigid’s National Schools in Kilcoole, Newtownmountkennedy Primary School and St. Francis National School in Newcastle – will visit Coláiste Chraobh Abhann to sample our comprehensive range of subjects and facilities. This day is part of our nine stage transition programme for pupils in sixth class transferring to our school.
REMEMBRANCE SERVICE
A remembrance service will take place in the school this Wednesday, November 11th, at 7.30p.m. This service is an opportunity for all members of our wider school community to unite in remembering family members and friends who have passed way. The service is organised by the school’s Religion Department and will be celebrated by Fr. Liam Belton and Rev. William Bennett.
OPEN NIGHT
Open Night will be held on Thursday 3rd December from 6.30pm to 9.00pm. Open Night affords parents and children from the community and beyond an opportunity to visit the school, view its facilities and meet with staff and students. We hope it will be a fun filled, eventful and entertaining evening for all who attend.
PARENTS COUNCIL
Our Parents’ Council held a meeting on Monday November 2nd. The next meeting will take place on Monday December 14th.
PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
There will be an Information night for parents and guardians of sixth year students this Thursday, November 12th at 7.30p.m. The meeting will focus on careers, colleges and applications.
PARENT TEACHER MEETING
Please note a change in time for the second year parent teacher meeting, will take place on Tuesday November 17th. The meeting will now take place from 1.15p.m. to 3.45p.m. Classes will end at 12.30p.m. to facilitate this. Transport is not guaranteed at this time.
