LCVP SUBJECT OPTIONS AFTERNOON

The fifth year LCVP students have organised a subject options afternoon due to take place next Tuesday.  For the event, all students have prepared a display and presentation on all the different subjects which the school offers at Leaving Cert level and they will present their work to Transition Year students, who as a result, will hopefully be more informed as they make their subject choice for senior cycle. Students will have the opportunity to look at textbooks, assessment methods, find out what careers are associated with a subject, learn about college requirements and talk with students who are currently studying those subjects.

LCVP INTERVIEWS

Well done to our 6th year students who were filmed for their recorded interviews this week. This accounts for 12% of their LCVP result.

TY STAY AWAKE

The Transition Year Stay Awake took place in the school last Friday 26th February.  The purpose of the event was to raise money for the upcoming TY musical. Congratulations and well done to all the students who stayed awake all night and to the teachers who volunteered to supervise throughout the night. The students organised various activities to keep them busy. Well done to the organising committee of Caressa O'Toole, Ciara Coster, Nicole Cummins and Alice Gray.

LCA SPONSORED SILENCE

The 6th Year Leaving Cert Applied class are currently organising a sponsored silence to raise money for Cuan Mhuire centre for addictions in Athy. Following a visit to the school from a guest speaker from the addiction centre, the students decided to organise the sponsored event as part of one of their key assignments.

ENTERPRISE

Colaiste Chraobh Abhann has selected their finalists for the Wicklow Enterprise Board Student Awards 2010. Three excellent mini companies made the required grade and are busy preparing their business plans to put to the judges in March. Kyle Corcoran, Kelvin Barr, Conor Black and Liam De Hóra have been selected with their business producing and selling special t-shirts. They produce and sell t-shirts with Irish slogans and sayings. Ronan Marah, Damon Zund, Neil Foot and Robert Scott with their company ‘Pimp my Gear’ are also going forward with their business, which involves using graffiti style airbrushing to customise footwear. The final business is the design of a website by students Saoirse O'Neill and Keelin Drew which is targeted towards people preparing for their weddings and debs ball, providing a portal for companies in the area to advertise. We wish all the businesses the best of luck.
