DRAGONS DEN VISITOR

Greystones based entrepreneur Alison Banton went from a Den of five experienced dragons to the classroom of fifth year business students when she recently visited Coláiste Chraobh Abhann to share her business story. Alison spoke about her successful business ‘Brooke and Shoals’ which sells products consisting of scented candles, hand lotion, hand wash and room fragrance. Interestingly, Alison also spoke to the students on her recent appearance on Dragons Den where she pitched her business to the dragons and was very successful in receiving a €65000 investment from investors, Sean Gallagher and Sarah Newman. The students, many of whom are interested in setting up their own businesses in the future also had an opportunity to ask Alison questions on her successful enterprise and her plans for the future. On behalf of the business students in Coláiste Chraobh Abhann, Kate Leone and Kerri Merriman made a presentation to Alison, for taking the time out of her busy schedule to encourage and motivate the students.

DIT MARKETING LECTURE

Many thanks to Ms. Laura Cuddihy, Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Dublin Institute of Technology who visited the school on Friday last to give senior business and accounting students a guest lecture on the marketing of a new product. It is only one part of our continuing alliance with the DIT, as 6th year students attend the college for a day and sit in on lectures every year.
