ANTI-BULLYING WEEK
This week is Anti-Bullying week in the school. Many classes are dedicated to raising awareness and consciousness around the issue of bullying in schools. A range of activities across the year groups and involving teachers in all subject areas has ensured the success of this annual programme. Students will, among many other things, participate in a poetry and short story competition as well as a poster competition in Art.
CHANGE TO CALENDAR
A reminder to all parents that the scheduled staff meeting for Friday 21st September will now take place on Friday 28th September. The usual procedures apply in that classes finish at 12.35pm for students and transport will be available for students who are eligible.
MUSIC OUTREACH PROGRAMME
The Music Outreach Programme is in its second year in the school. This programme has proved very popular and successful among our students. The course runs for 20 weeks, during which time students take up a new instrument and also have the option of joining the rock band. Many thanks to Ms. Mitchell, co-ordinator of this programme.
HIGHER OPTIONS
Our fifth year students attended the Higher Options Conference in the RDS last Wednesday. The students gained valuable information about third level choices and courses available to them. Many thanks to Ms. Raughter for organising this trip.
TRANSITION YEAR
Our Transition Year students will be going to Baltinglass Outdoor Education Centre from Wednesday September 26th to Friday September 28th. This is a team-building experience for all students, who will spend their time taking part in many different activities, including canoeing, orienteering and abseiling.
LITTER DUTY
All students are now involved in litter duty in our school. Each class is allocated one week, during which they spend time after each break ensuring that all litter has been picked up and that the school is a clean and tidy environment.
