SYMPATHY
The school experienced the tragic loss of one of our 5th year students, Emma Keane, over the Easter break. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the Keane family at this very difficult time. Emma was held in the highest regard by everyone and she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all members of our school community.
SCHOOL TOUR
Our second year students have now returned from their school trip to Barcelona. They visited Monserrat, the Noucamp stadium, along with other sights in the city. They returned to school this week full of stories of their travels. A great time was had by all.
BASKETBALL
Congratulations to the first and second year boys’ basketball teams who played Arklow at home before Easter. Both teams had a great game, particularly in defence. The final score for the first year game was: CCA 20 Arklow 15
The final score for the second year game was: CCA 12 Arklow 21
SENIOR GAELIC FOOTBALL
County Wicklow Schools B Semi-Final: CCA 2-9 St.David’s 2-11
This was an excellent contest dominated by windy conditions in Kilcoole. Both teams gave a great display of committed sportsmanship, but unfortunately for us, St. David’s just shaded it in the end to progress to the final. Our “Man of the Match” was full-back John Halpin, with Michael Hackett leading by example at the other end. The team and scorers were: John McDaid, Shane Keogh, John Halpin, Matthew Mannix, Vincent Hunt, Stuart Power (Captain), Shane Mooney, Conor Byrne (0-3), Matthew Gilbert (1-3), Colin Odlum, Michael Hackett (1-1), Christy Power, Conor Eccleston, Gary Elliot (0-1), Billy Clarkson. Subs on the day were: Seán Ryder, Austin Gaskin (0-1), Adam Coster, Shane Mooney and Daire Killen.
SENIOR GIRLS CAMOGIE
Our Senior Girls camogie team played their first ever match before the Easter holidays. The girls put on a great performance against St. Kevin’s, Dunlavin and emerged victorious. Both sides were well matched in the first half, but a last-minute goal from Gillian Synnott ensured eventual victory, and the game finished on a scoreline of 4-1 to 2-0. Key players were Niamh Donnelly, Úna Britton, Jessica Morrissey and Leigh O Neill. Well done to all!
