Selection Process
The following process is used to determine the successful applicants for the role of peer mentors:
| September/October | Visit by Karen Carter and Linda Lambert to speak to TY classes about the role of the Peer Mentor and to encourage students to apply for a place on the Peer Mentoring course |
| Mid-October | Return of completed application forms and scheduling of interviews |
| November | Discussion of interview results by Peer Mentor Facilitator, Deputy Principal and a nominated staff member |
| November | Letter to all interviewees and announcement of Peer Mentors appointed to work with the incoming first years. Involvement of Peer Mentors in Transition Programme - Primary to Secondary in November |
| December | Meeting with all Peer Mentors in advance of training in January/February |
| January | Training for Peer Mentors |
| August | Refresher course for Peer Mentors before commencement of new academic year |
| August | Appointment of Peer Mentors to classes |
| August | Involvement in First Year Induction Programme |
| September - May | Peer Mentor Support for 1st Year students |
